According to WHO, sexual health is a condition of physical, psychological and social well-being in terms of sexuality. It requires an affirmative and careful approach in terms of sexuality and sexual relationships including the ability to have enjoyable and secure sexual experiences that do not have any constraints, assaults or discrimination of any kind. It has been proven scientifically that a large number of sexual disorders may affect many people’s ability to have or enjoy sexual relationships for both males and females.
Among the most commonly spread STDs genital herpes probably gains the lead. Interestingly enough most of the people who have this infection don’t even suspect about it. A person can easily get infected from a partner through sex without any evident symptoms of herpes. This infection is generally caused by HSV-1 or HSV-2 (Herpes Simplex Virus) – the primary reason of cold sores damaging genitals, cervix, skin and other body parts. Even though there is no cure for this disease, herpes treatment drugs are commonly used to heal sores quicker and prevent new outbreaks of the illness. Such medications will also stop the infection from spreading. Those patients who do experience the symptoms of genital herpes may have blisters on genitals and sores outside the mouth area and they will notice them in around four to seven days once they got infected. Pills for cold sores will help get rid of them rather quickly in order to return aesthetic appearance of their face and relieve the pain.
Whenever a person gets infected with genital herpes for the first time, their primary symptoms may last up to twenty days and include the following:
- Blisters/ulcers on cervix;
- Discharges from vagina;
- Pain during urination;
- Painful burning red blisters that leave ulcers on the external genitals, thighs, buttocks, rectum;
- Cold sores outside the mouth area.
Today, however, there is a wide variety of oral medications for herpes which help ease and get rid of all these unpleasant symptoms as fast as possible, as well as stop the infection.
Recurrent infection shows very similar symptoms, which tend to be not so strong and last for a shorter period of time due to the immunity to the virus that’s been built during the primary infection.
Medications for herpes simplex sometimes cause adverse effects. Most common are upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, distress, skin rash, itch and dysmenorrhea.
